sacred bull of the Heliopolis/Iunu. Orginally a sperate god he eventually came to be the embodiment of the sun god Atum-Ra also the ba of Ra. He was the mediator between gods and humans, consulted as an oracle. People all different social classes addressed their prayers to the bull which then were mounted on steles and put up in the temple. A black cow would be selected as sigle living embodyment of Mnevis.
