All kings had patron gods but this was the first time that other deities were exclude . To speed up construction of the city most of the buildings were constructed out of mud-brick, and white washed. The most important buildings were faced with local stone. There was a semi-circular bay 10 kl long in the cliffs reminiscent of  his god Aton. Famous for it's highly realistic Amarna art style which broke with long-established Egyptian conventions of strict  idealistic forms. Tutankhamun, decided to leave the city and return to his birthplace in Thebes or modern Luxor.

Known for:  Possibly the same City as Itjtawy 21nd Nome UE. Also here is found mastaba of Senweseret-Ankh, the high priest of Ptah and royal architect.
